Keeping your Marble Countertops Looking Great

Marble countertops are a great addition to any home. Marble has been used for centuries as a very withstanding material, and look beautiful no matter if they are used for floors, pillars, or countertops. However, keeping them looking beautiful is important, so there are some tips you should know if you have recently installed Marble Countertops Cedar Rapids, IA . When it comes to marble fabrication, countertops are done great by Elite Stone Fabrication.

1. Are your marble countertops cultured or natural?

To determine what type of marble fabrication countertops you have, you can do a few different tests. The first one is a “touch” method. Natural marble will feel cooler than the surrounding air. The second is an acidity test. Using vinegar, in an inconspicuous area, place a few drops on the counter and see if it fizzes. Natural marble will fizzle. Immediately clean up the vinegar to avoid damage.

2. Remove stain

Removes stains with dish soap and warm water. Using a soft cloth, scrub at the stain until the stain is fully removed. Marble fabrication countertops can be extremely porous so this step is important.

3. Remove debris

Since marble can easily scratch, ensure that you remove all debris before polishing the marble.
4. Polish Mixing baking soda and water (3 Tablespoons of baking soda to 1 Quart of water). Apply mixture to the marble’s surface and let sit for 5 hours. This will help in the polishing of your marble fabrication countertops. Rinse your marble countertops with water and a soft rag.

5. Dry and Buff

Using a clean, soft towel, dry and buff your marble countertops.

6. Seal

Apply a sealant to protect against any stains. Contact us at Elite Stone Fabrication for further advice on this step. These are some easy, quick steps you can take to polishing your marble countertops. Questions? Give Elite Stone Fabrication a call for all of your countertops questions and needs.
